Kato says will leave LDP, quit as faction chief

TOKYO, Japan - Koichi Kato, former secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is surrounded by reporters in front of his home in Tokyo's Minato Ward on March 18. Kato said he will leave the LDP to take responsibility for a tax-evasion scandal involving his former senior aide.
