Traditional tea-picking at Kumano shrine
SHINGU, Japan - Kumano Hongu Taisha maidens pick tea leaves in the shinto shrine's traditional ''First Tea-picking of the Season'' in the town of Hongu in Wakayama Prefecture on April 5. Kumano Hongu Taisha is one of the three shinto shrines located in the Kumano district, which from earliest times was believed to be a dwelling place of the gods.
