Nintendo names new president
KYOTO, Japan - Hiroshi Yamauchi, president of Nintendo Co., speaks at a press conference at the company's head office in Kyoto's Minami Ward on May 24 about his retirement as president. Yamauchi, 74, will be replaced by director Satoru Iwata, 42, effective May 31. Yamauchi has been president for 52 years and is responsible for turning the Kyoto-based entertainment equipment maker into one of the world's leading video game console makers.
