World Wheelchair Basketball Championships open in Kitakyushu
KITAKYUSHU, Japan - Former sumo wrestler Konishiki welcomes members of the British wheelchair basketball squad before it faced off against the U.S. team in the first match of the 2002 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships at Kitakyushu City General Gymnasium on Aug. 23. Players from 13 countries will take part in the 10-day championships, also known as the Gold Cup, which are being held for the first time in Asia. (Kyodo)
