Niigata gov. scraps TEPCO pluthermal project plan

NIIGATA, Japan - Niigata Gov. Ikuo Hirayama (R) is in talks with two local mayors at his office in Niigata on Sept. 12. Hirayama said later he has scrapped a plan for a Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) pluthermal power-generation project in the prefecture over a scandal in which the company covered up damage at its nuclear plants. (Kyodo)
