SAPPORO, Japan - David Aldwinckle (L), a 37-year-old U.S.-born resident of Hokkaido who is a naturalized Japanese citizen, points at a ruling by the Sapporo District Court on Nov. 11 ordering the operator of a bathhouse in Otaru, Hokkaido, to pay a total of 3 million yen in compensation to him and two other foreigners for refusing them admission because of its policy of rejecting foreign customers.
