TOKYO, Japan - Top executives of Japan's four largest breweries -- Kirin Brewery Co., Asahi Breweries Ltd., Sapporo Breweries Ltd. and Suntory Ltd. -- gather Dec. 6 at Tokyo's Ebisu Garden Place to petition government plans to increase the tax on ''happoshu,'' an increasingly popular low-malt, beer-like beverage in Japan.                       Sapporo to offer tastings of beer made with 'space' barley

Sapporo said the same day it will hold tastings of Sapporo Space Barley in January, inviting a total of 30 couples through a lottery to the events at the company's six plants from Hokkaido to Oita Prefecture.
