Mitsubishi Estate's Disaster Drill Using Robots

Mitsubishi Estate conducted a comprehensive disaster drill using security robots for foreign residents at several office buildings in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, including the Otemachi Park Building and Marunouchi Building. The robot is the SQ-2, which was jointly developed by the company and Seac Sense (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), and is capable of autonomous driving. "How can I help you? and so on in English. SQ-2 is 1,300 millimeters tall, weighs 65 kilograms, and is equipped with a proprietary three-dimensional laser sensor, artificial intelligence (AI) functions, a high-resolution camera, and a fisheye camera. Mitsubishi Estate said, "We are increasing the number of English-speaking security guards due to the increase in inbound tourism and the holding of the Olympics, but there is a limit. UENO, Japan, Aug. 11 Kyodo - Relatives of the 1985 Japan Airlines jet crash victims pay tribute to their loved ones on Aug. 11, 2017, on the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the disaster, by floating paper lanterns on a river in the mountainous village of Ueno in Gunma Prefecture, northwest of Tokyo. On Aug. 12, 1985, Flight 123, en route from Tokyo to Osaka with 524 passengers and crew aboard, crashed into Osutaka Ridge in the village, killing all but four in the world's deadliest single-aircraft accident.

KOBE, Japan - Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd.'s 55-meter-tall advertising tower in Kobe, western Japan, is lit up for the first time in 10 years on Jan. 14, 2015, three days before the 20th anniversary of the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. The tower served as a landmark for volunteer workers after the disaster.
