Emperor steadily recovering from prostate surgery

TOKYO, Japan - Empress Michiko leaves the University of Tokyo Hospital in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward on Jan. 20 after having been there with her husband Emperor Akihito since Jan. 16. The emperor, who entered the hospital Jan. 16 and underwent an operation Jan. 18 to remove a cancerous prostate, is steadily recovering and has started to stand and walk around. (Kyodo)
