Suzuki Motor to sell Daewoo-built cars in N. American market

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows the Verona subcompact sedan, one of the three car models Suzuki Motor Corp. will start selling in North America in 2004. Suzuki said Feb. 13 the three car models were built by South Korea's GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. Daihatsu to stop all vehicle shipments over improper safety testing

TOKYO, Dec. 20 Kyodo - Daihatsu Motor Co. said Wednesday it will stop all shipments at home and abroad after the Toyota Motor Corp. subsidiary found most of its car models were affected by improper vehicle safety tests. The move comes after the minivehicle maker acknowledged earlier this year data-rigging in collision tests for six of its models, including those sold in Thailand and Malaysia. A third-party panel it has set up identified 174 new counts of misconduct across 25 vehicle test items in addition to those already discovered, with the oldest one dating back to 1989, Daihatsu said, adding that it reported the findings to the transport ministry. Toyota to file for recall of luxury Lexus models Monday

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. will file on July 5 for a recall of eight models, including luxury Lexus cars, due to an engine defect that could cause the vehicles to stop while in motion, affecting about 90,000 units in Japan, company officials said on July 2, 2010. The recall will cover the top-of-the-line LS460 sedan (file photo) and other Lexus models -- the LS600h, LS600hL, GS350, GS450h, GS460 and IS350 -- as well as the Toyota Crown. (Kyodo)
