Leading Japanese-style painter Okuda dies at 90
TOKYO, Japan - Genso Okuda, one of the leading figures in Japanese-style painting, chats with his wife Sayume in a photo taken at their Tokyo home in June 2000. Okuda died of heart failure Feb. 15, aged 90. Okuda opened new frontiers in modern Japanese-style painting of landscapes, combining the ink painting style of China and Japan with the colors of Western painting. (Kyodo)
