Unheralded Tanihara leads 1st-round Yomiuri Open golf

NISHINOMIYA, Japan - Little-known Hideto Tanihara ignited with a 7-under-par 65 for a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Mandom Lucido Yomiuri Open golf tournament at the Yomiuri Country Club in Hyogo Prefecture on June 20. The scheduled first round on June 19 was canceled due to a thick fog and a nearing typhoon, making the event a 54-hole affair. (Kyodo)
