South Korea's Chosun Ilbo, citing a South Korean intelligence source and a senior North Korean official who defected to the South, reported Aug. 27 that Kim, 36, returned home around June after living overseas for years and has taken up a post at the Organization and Guidance Department of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea. The department is the key agency which controls the ruling party, the military and the government of North Korea.

TOKYO, Japan - Shigeru Yokota and his wife Sakie speak at a press conference in Tokyo on Nov. 25 about documents and evidence Pyongyang gave to a Japanese government delegation that conducted a fact-finding mission on the fate of 10 Japanese abductees earlier this month. TOKYO, Japan - Koichiro Iizuka (R), whose mother Yaeko Taguchi was abducted by North Korea in 1978 and reported by Pyongyang to have died, meets the press in Tokyo on Feb. 23.
