Kyodo News marks completion of new HQ in Shiodome site

TOKYO, Japan - Kyodo News on July 17 marked the completion of its new headquarters (shown in photo) in the Shiodome waterfront redevelopment zone in Tokyo with an opening ceremony. Shiodome Media Tower, a 172-meter skyscraper with 34 stories above ground and four below, features the latest communications facilities including high-speed fiber-optic networks. (Kyodo)

Kyodo News starts construction of new headquarters

TOKYO, Japan - Ichiro Saita, president of Kyodo News, breaks ground Oct. 24 in a ceremony marking the start of construction of the agency's new 34-story headquarters in the Shiodome area of Tokyo's Minato Ward. The building, Shiodome Media Tower, is being built on a 9,323 square-meter plot that was once part of the now-defunct Japanese National Railways Shiodome freight train station. The building is due for completion by June 2003.
