Agave plant blooms in Shimane Pref.

MATSUE, Japan - An agave plant was in bloom in the town of Koryu, Shimane Prefecture, on Aug. 2. The agave, originated in Mexico, is said to bloom only once every 50 to 70 years. The 50-year-old plant may die after the flowers close, expected by the end of this month. (Kyodo)
