      Police arrest former SDP lawmaker Tsujimoto

      TOKYO, Japan - Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) lawmaker Kiyomi Tsujimoto (file photo) was arrested on July 18 on suspicion of defrauding the state by misappropriating money that had been intended for the salaries of her policy secretaries. Tsujimoto, 43, resigned as a House of Representatives lawmaker after the scandal surfaced in March 2002.
