Cultural asset discovered in Kanda used bookstore
TOKYO, Japan - Cultural Affairs Agency studies have shown that a used bookstore in Tokyo's Kanda district obtained a book on Christianity (shown in photo) that is cultural asset of national importance. The book was printed in 1607 on a metal press brought by the Jesuits, and was phonetically written in Japanese using Roman characters. It was used by foreign missionaries to preach to the Japanese.
