Beijing bookstore opens space corner

BEIJING, China - A bookstore in Beijing opened a corner for books related to space development on Oct. 15 to mark the launch of China's first manned spacecraft earlier in the day, which safely went into orbit. (Kyodo)

                    QPS Research Institute successfully launched the first nano radar satellite.

                    The QPS Research Institute (Fukuoka, Japan) launched the first micro radar satellite "Izanagi" from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India on the 11th. The satellite, which was loaded on a shared rocket, climbed to an altitude of about 570 kilometers around Australia. The satellite was detached about 17 minutes after takeoff, and the launch was a success. About 500 people, including people from local companies that cooperated in the development of the satellite and children, gathered at the public viewing site of the Fukuoka Prefectural Government. After the launch of the second satellite, Izanami, in 2020, the number of satellites will increase to 36. Using radar, the satellite will have a resolution of one meter and will be able to make observations every 10 minutes, even at night and in bad weather.                       NTT DOCOMO's Kyushu branch office (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City) opened the FGN 5G Laboratory at Fukuoka Growth Next (FGN), a business start-up support facility in Fukuoka City, on April 2. The lab will provide a demonstration environment for a wide range of companies, including those residing at FGN, in advance of the launch of 5th generation communication (5G) commercial services. At the opening event, Fukuoka Mayor Soichiro Takashima announced the priority development of the 5G communication environment for the 2009 World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka. Examples of demonstrations by Seiko Denki Seisakusho, Living Robot (Date City, Fukushima Prefecture), and Quand (Yahatahigashi Ward, Kitakyushu City) were introduced.
