Students set Japan record for flight of human-powered aircraft

SHIZUOKA, Japan - A human-powered aircraft, steered by Kai Hirawata, a third-year student at Nihon University's College of Science and Technology, leaves the Fujikawa gliding ground in Shizuoka Prefecture on March 21. The aircraft flew for around 12 kilometers, beating the previous domestic record of 10.9 km. (Kyodo)

                    Tohoku University and TEPCO to conduct joint research on decommissioning

                    The term is five years. The division will conductresearch in a wide range of fields to solve various technical problems at the decommissioning site, including evaluation technology to detect the aging deterioration of structures. With the aim of fostering human resources, a CFReND branch office will be established at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant site this summer. On-site exchanges of opinions between engineers at the decommissioning site and Tohoku University faculty and graduate students will be promoted.
