FTC warns Microsoft to stop anticompetitive licensing practice
TOKYO, Japan - Takashi Hirano, general manager in charge of legal affairs and policy planning Microsoft Corp.'s Japan unit, speaks at a press conference in Tokyo on July 13 after the Fair Trade Commission warned the U.S. software giant to stop what it claims is an anticompetitive practice in connection with software licensing deals with Japanese personal computer makers. Hirano said that Microsoft will reiterate during an FTC hearing procedure its view that the practice in question is a fair part of licensing agreements and is lawful. (Kyodo)
