KYOTO, Japan - People, many of them tourists, enjoy watching a huge bonfire burned on Aug. 16 in the shape of the Chinese character ''dai'' (meaning great) on the open slope of Daimonjiyama mountain on the eastern edge of Kyoto. (Kyodo)
