Kawabata to take DPJ No. 2 post, Fujii to be acting president
TOKYO, Japan - Tatsuo Kawabata (L), a Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker in his sixth term in the House of Representatives, said Sept. 9 he has accepted the offer of the post of DPJ secretary general from party leader Katsuya Okada. Veteran lawmaker Hirohisa Fujii (R), 72, accepted Okada's offer to become acting president, after declining to stay on as secretary general. (Kyodo)
