Japanese students show marked declines in reading, math

TOKYO, Japan - Nariaki Nakayama, minister for education, culture, sports, science and technology, comments at a press conference on Dec. 7 on the outcome of an international student assessment test conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development which showed that the reading and math skills of Japanese high school students have markedly declined in the past three years.
