NAGANO, Japan - The two flames of the Special Olympics World Winter Games are merged at Zenkoji Temple in the city of Nagano on Feb. 25. The flame was divided into two and carried around Nagano Prefecture on separate routes for six days. The Special Olympics get under way Feb. 26. (Kyodo)

                  Pureron Japan (Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture) started operation of "the fourth factory" that manufactures the metal processing precision parts. The production system is strengthened by investing 2 billion yen. Pureron Japan manufactures filters and other products, mainly sensors for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Semiconductor-related products account for 80% of the company's sales, and industrial and medical equipment accounts for 20%. It was judged that the market of the precision equipment related to the semiconductor would grow in the world, and it was decided to strengthen the production system greatly together with the medical equipment to be strengthened from now on.
