TOKYO, Japan - Japan Racing Association (JRA) jockey Yukio Okabe, who has won a record 2,943 races, announced his retirement from horse racing at a press conference in Tokyo on March 10. Okabe, at 56 the oldest active JRA jockey, debuted in 1967 and quickly stole the limelight with 54 victories the following year. ''I'm no longer able to move my body the way I want to when I'm racing,'' Okabe said. (Kyodo)
