GENERAL SANTOS, Philippines - Akio Egawa, deputy chief of Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, listens to a question by a journalist at a press conference in General Santos, Mindanao, on May 30. Egawa said that his team of diplomats, sent to Mindanao to meet two men who are said to be former Japanese soldiers from World War II, will leave the island due to a stalemate in arranging an interview with two men.
