BOJ says Japan's economy is 'expected to expand'
TOKYO, Japan - Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui speaks at a press conference at his office in Tokyo on May 1. In a monthly report released on the same day, the central bank upgraded its assessment of the nation's economic outlook, using the stronger term ''expand,'' compared with ''recover'' in its previous report. Fukui expressed confidence that the nation's economy will likely follow a sustainable growth path backed by high corporate profits and a moderate rise in household income. (Kyodo)
