September economic report avoids declaring end to deflation

TOKYO, Japan - Economic and fiscal policy minister Kaoru Yosano speaks at a press conference on Sept. 15 after the government released a monthly economic report for September. The report avoided declaring that the nation's economy has moved out of deflation, although it maintained a sanguine assessment on the overall economic situation for the seventh consecutive month.                     YANTAI, CHINA - JULY 31, 2024 - Blades of offshore wind turbines wait to be loaded at Penglai Port area of Yantai Port, east China's Shandong province, July 31, 2024. On July 31, 2024, the National Energy Administration held a press conference to release the energy situation and renewable energy grid-connected operation in the first half of the year: As of the end of June 2024, the installed capacity of renewable energy generation in the country reached 1.653 billion kilowatts, an increase of 25%, accounting for about 53.8% of the total installed capacity of power generation in China. The total installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic power generation (1.18 billion kW) has exceeded the installed capacity of coal power (1.17 billion kW).
