Upper house president ends 30-year career in parliament

TOKYO, Japan - House of Councillors President Chikage Ogi is seen off by upper house staff in front of the Diet building in Tokyo on July 27 as she ends her 30-year career as a parliamentarian. Ogi had served as president of the upper chamber of the Diet since 2004 and was the country's first female head of the upper house. (Kyodo)
