Tohoku University and TEPCO to conduct joint research on decommissioning

Kyushu Electric Power signs LNG bunkering contracts for coal with two shipping companies

The cost of the project and the share of the cost with Kyushu Electric Power Co. will not be disclosed. The two shipping companies mentioned the spread of LNG-fueled vessels. Opening Ceremony of Ferrotec HD's New Plant in Hangzhou, China

Ferrotec Holdings (HD) will start mass production of 8-inch wafers at its new plant in Hangzhou, China by January to March 2020. The company plans to produce about 100,000 wafers per month. This is the first time for the company to build a line for 12-inch wafers. The company is already mass-producing 100,000 wafers of 8-inch silicon wafers at its Shanghai Plant in Shanghai City.The opening ceremony of the new plant (photo) was held on the 22nd. The ceremony was attended by about 450 people, including local government officials. Hokuriku Electric Power's "Assist Arm" robot for power distribution work

Hokuriku Electric Power Company has completed the development of the "Assist Arm" (photo), a robot for power distribution work, and has begun deploying it. Kashiwazaki Mayor Sakurai receives a proposal from TEPCO to decommission the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.

Masahiro Sakurai, the mayor of Kashiwazaki City in Niigata Prefecture, said on April 19 that the decommissioning plan for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station submitted by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings, Inc. In August, the company announced its intention to decide on a policy of decommissioning one or more nuclear reactors within five years if it were to resume operations of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No. 6 and No. 7 reactors and secure a non-fossil power source ratio of more than 40%, combining renewable energy and nuclear power. Nippon Shimpo's drill used in the previous deep drilling of the Antarctic ice sheet

Nippon Shinkan (Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture) has delivered high-precision aluminum tubes to the National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR) for their deep drilling of the Antarctic ice sheet.
