Baseball: Softbank picks right-hander Oba in draft
TOKYO, Japan - Obliging a request from the press, Toyo University right-hander Shota Oba puts on a Softbank cap after he was picked by the Softbank Hawks in the first round of Japanese baseball's amateur draft on Nov. 19. The Hawks won the six-team lottery for Oba, who has set Tohto University Baseball League records with 14 straight wins and 410 strikeouts. The Orix Buffaloes, Yokohama BayStars, Hanshin Tigers, Nippon Ham Fighters and Yomiuri Giants also named him in the first round of bids. (Kyodo)
