Nikkei Stock Average ends with largest gain of 14.15%

TOKYO, Japan - An electronic board in Tokyo's Nihombashi district shows the benchmark Nikkei Stock Average on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closing up 1,171.14 points, or 14.15 percent, at 9,447.57 on Oct. 14. It was the Nikkei's largest percentage gain on a closing basis, surpassing the previous record of 13.24 percent logged on Oct. 2, 1990. (Kyodo)
