Nikkei closes above 9,000 for 1st time since Oct. 21

TOKYO, Japan - A sign board in Tokyo's Nihombashi district shows the Nikkei Stock Average at the Tokyo Stock Exchange surging 817.86 points to close at 9,029.76 on Oct. 30. The benchmark stock index finished above the 9,000 line for the first time in over a week. (Kyodo)
