Arrested Chiba mayor willing to step down
TOKYO, Japan - Chiba Mayor Keiichi Tsuruoka (file photo) has expressed willingness to step down during a meeting with his lawyer after his arrest for bribery, his lawyer said on April 24. Tsuruoka was arrested on April 22 by police on suspicion of receiving around 1 million yen in cash from a Tokyo construction company in 2005 in return for helping the company win a contract for city-ordered construction work.
