Convenience stores, supermarkets start selling drugs
TOKYO, Japan - A registered salesman checks nonprescription drugs on a shelf of a pharmacy in a convenience store outlet of Seven-Eleven Japan Co. in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward on June 1, which began the 24-hour sale of such drugs on a pilot basis. Japanese convenience stores and supermarkets began selling the drugs, some around the clock, on June 1 as deregulation under a revised pharmacy law took effect. (Kyodo)
