Monument dedicated to medieval Korean court missions to Japan
Kazuyuki Matsubara stands on March 31, 2015, by a monument erected on Tsushima Island, Nagasaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan, in memory of the goodwill missions sent to Japan by the Joseon dynasty on the Korean Peninsula intermittently between the Muromachi and Edo periods (1336-1867). Matsubara has been working with the South Korean side to have the monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and help revitalize life on the island. (Kyodo)
