Disaster prevention institute simulates Japan's heaviest downpour
The National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, shows the press on June 2, 2015, a simulation of an immense downpour, a rainfall of 300 millimeters per hour, at its laboratory. The rainfall was equivalent to that measured in Niigata Prefecture in 2011. (Kyodo)
