U.N. deputy chief urges Japan to send more peacekeepers

U.N. Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson says in an interview with Kyodo News in New York on Aug. 19, 2015, he hopes that Japan will send more personnel to serve in U.N. peacekeeping operations. The former Swedish foreign minister pointed out that deepening humanitarian crises around the world are forcing the world body to prolong the stationing of peacekeepers and making their withdrawal increasingly difficult.
