Artificially incubated cormorant debuts as fish hunter in Kyoto
Utty (foreground), Japan's first cormorant born through artificial incubation, swims in the Uji River in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan, on its first day as a traditional "ukai" fish hunter on Sept. 5, 2015. Holding the snares tied to the base of the birds' throat is cormorant fishing master Mariko Sawaki, who has been taking care of Utty since it was born in June 2014. (Kyodo)
