Contents of Nobel laureate Yukawa's letters to poet Yoshii disclosed
File photo taken in 1956 shows world-known physicist Hideki Yukawa (1907-1981), the first Japanese national who received a Nobel prize. Detailed contents of Yukawa's six letters sent to poet Isamu Yoshii (1886-1960) between March 1945 and January 1947, before receiving the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1949, were disclosed by Mitsuhiro Hosokawa, a professor at the University of Shizuoka, in an academic journal published in September 2015. The letters contain a total of nine "tanka" poems of Yukawa, including four unpublished poems. (Kyodo)
