Full-course French cuisine depicting Izumo Myths promoted in west Japan

Photo taken on Oct. 22, 2015, shows a main dish (L) and a dessert in a full course of French cuisine created by Shimane University in collaboration with local chefs to depict the myths of Izumo, which are tales in the western region from the birth of ancient Japan. The meal is served at the university's affiliated hospital in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. The main dish of roasted pork and vegetables represents the "kunibiki shinwa" (land-pulling legend), according to which the local deity pulled in pieces of land from offshore to enlarge the land of Izumo.
