Japan donates solar lamps for Myanmar polling stations ahead of election

Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Tateshi Higuchi (L) presents a solar lamp to Myanmar's Union Election Commission chairman Tin Aye during a ceremony in the Myanmar capital of Naypyitaw on Oct. 30, 2015. The ceremony marked Japan's donation of about 50,000 such lamps for use at polling stations across Myanmar in the country's Nov. 8 general election. The lamps, which can be charged during the day for use at night, will help facilitate vote counting after polling stations close as many areas in Myanmar still do not have all-day electricity supply.
