Gov't to delay surveys to pick radioactive waste disposal site
Environment state minister Shinji Inoue (L) informs Miyagi Gov. Yoshihiro Murai during talks at the Miyagi prefectural government office on Nov. 19, 2015, that the central government will abandon planned year-end onsite surveys at three candidate locations in the northeastern Japanese prefecture for disposing of radioactively contaminated waste from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster due to fierce local opposition and anticipated snowfall once winter sets in.
