18-yr-old student casts ballot for upper house election
Chiho Tatsumi, an 18-year-old high school senior, meets with reporters in Osaka on June 23, 2016, after casting a ballot for the July 10 upper house election at an early polling station. Tatsumi is believed to be the first minor to vote in a state-level election since the voting age in Japan was lowered to 18. "I will recommend to my friends that they vote," she said. (Kyodo)
