Newly designated national park in Okinawa
A veterinarian tends to an Okinawa rail, designated a Japanese natural treasure, in Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, on June 30, 2016, after it was injured in a traffic accident. Known as the home of the Okinawa rail, the Yambaru region in the northern part of the prefecture's main island was designated as Japan's 33rd national park on June 20. (Kyodo)
