Scene after March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake

Shoes remain in lockers at a now-closed elementary school in Futaba, Fukushima Prefecture, on Aug. 22, 2020, left as they were on March 11, 2011, when the students evacuated from the school in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. A local education committee started returning such belongings to their owners in August, following the easing of access restrictions to the town that co-hosts the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
