Memorial museum of 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake

A museum to commemorate the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and the subsequent Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant crisis in Futaba in Fukushima Prefecture, begins displaying a signboard reading "Nuclear power: energy for a bright future" on March 24, 2021. The signboard, which used to be seen in the town that co-hosts the crippled nuclear power plant, is being exhibited at the museum to serve as an ironic reminder of the trust Japan placed in the safety of nuclear power.

          Japan court allows aging Fukui nuclear reactor to continue operations

          OSAKA, March 15 Kyodo -- A Japanese court on Friday decided a nuclear reactor that started running over 40 years ago in central Japan could continue operations, upholding a lower court ruling that rejected residents' calls to halt the unit over safety concerns.The Osaka High Court decided against an injunction to halt the No. 3 unit of Kansai Electric Power Co.'s Mihama power plant in Fukui Prefecture, saying the court believes it poses "no specific danger."(Kyodo)

                  The Mission of Japan to the European Union sponsors a food fair at a hotel in Brussels on March 11, 2024, to promote Japanese food, especially that made in the country's northeastern region, in the European market, on the 13th anniversary of the March 2011 nuclear crisis at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant. Event organizers served Japanese food to local journalists, food importers and restaurant operators. The event came as China continues to impose a total ban on seafood imports from Japan in response to the discharge of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima plant into the sea.
