People call for demolition of tsunami-ruined north Japan building
Residents in Minamisanriku, Miyagi Prefecture, gather in front of the town office on Jan. 28, 2015, to call for the prompt demolition of a building destroyed by the 2011 earthquake and ensuing tsunami that ravaged the northeastern Japan region of Tohoku. Used as the town's anti-disaster headquarters, the building, where 43 people died in the disaster, is at the center of a controversy over whether it should be promptly demolished or preserved as a memorial of the disaster.
