Police set up dementia detection system for senior drivers
Mitsuhiko Yamamoto, an inspector of the Oita prefectural police in southwestern Japan, shows on Feb. 10, 2015, a letter of commendation given by the National Policy Agency chief for creating a system to help local doctors detect dementia among senior drivers at an early stage. Under the system, police can urge those diagnosed as suffering from dementia to return their licenses and reduce the potential number of traffic accidents. (Kyodo)
