Japan, Russia agree on no. of visa-free visits to disputed isles for 2015

Dmitry Khan, deputy minister of international relations and investment of Russia's Sakhalin Region government, speaks at a press conference in Sapporo, northern Japan, on March 19, 2015, after talks with Japanese officials on arrangements for an annual visa-free exchange program for fiscal 2015. The program enables former Japanese residents of a set of Russian-held islands off Hokkaido and Russian islanders to visit each other's countries. They agreed for the Japanese side to make nine visits to the disputed isles between May and September, and the Russian side will make six visits to Japanese destinations between May and October.
